Bored in quarantine? Here's some super fun ways to pass your time!

The whole world is quarantined in their homes right now, and we're all bored out of our minds, since we don't have anything to do. We're all looking for ways to pass our time. But since we have all this free time on our hands, why not use it to learn something new and also have some fun along the way? Here is our collection of fun, educational activities to do at home!

1. Learn to cook!

Agreed, we don't have super exotic ingredients in our homes right now, but no one said you need them to whip up delicious creations! For example, everyone's craving pizza right now, and you can easily satisfy your cravings with simple and easy recipes from the internet! Running low on flour? Well, you can make your pizza crust with cauliflower or wheat! Don't have an oven or have a broken oven? No worries, there's a recipe for that! You can make the simplest things like bread, pancakes and crepes, or you can become a full-on chef and make cakes, lasagnas and other fancy stuff- with the ingredients you already have at home! You can even make essentials like butter, whipped cream (did you know you can make that without cream?), or sour cream! So what're you waiting for? Get in the kitchen and have some fun!

2. Family activities!

Because of quarantine, all the family members are at home right now. This is very rare, so it's a great opportunity to strengthen your bond with your family! You can just sit down and talk, or you can have family game night everyday, or you can do some fun family activities like indoor treasure hunts or quizzes!

3. Have fun with make-up!

Doesn't matter if you’re a makeup lover or not, you’ll definitely enjoy this activity! I was absolutely inexperienced with makeup, but when I tried I for the first time, I came up with a way to do a full face of makeup with just some foundation, an eyeshadow palette, and a colour pencil for the lipstick (it’s a hack, you can look it up) and I had a lot of fun doing it too! Who knows, you might even start a new trend! So, take out your makeup products and get creative!

4. Experiment with fashion!

We all have those clothes in the back of our closets that we’ve never worn. Well, it’s time to take those clothes out along with the ones you wear regularly, and pair them into some amazing outfits! You’ll be surprised at what you’re able to make! Mix ’n’ match and have fun with different styles, patterns, prints, and trends! This way, you’ll have your outfit game on point when you’re finally allowed to go out!

5. Clear the clutter!

Ah, the things we buy on impulse and never use. Don’t lie, we’ve all done it. But now it’s time to open those junk drawers and cupboards, and get rid of the stuff that we don’t want or need. Keep the stuff that makes you happy is valuable to you, and you can donate the rest to people in need! Things like old clothes, pillows and blankets are perfect for donation because these can even help someone survive! And cleaning and de-cluttering is really good for mental health, so it’s a win-win situation!

6. Start a YouTube channel!

Nowadays, everyone has a phone and internet, and we all know how easy it is to take a video and put it up on YouTube. Everybody has at least one talent, and now, because of the internet, it has become very easy to showcase that talent. Since we’re all bored at home, it would be a very good idea to start a YouTube channel and showcase your talents! Who knows, someone big might notice you and you might get a huge headstart with your career!

7. Attend free Instagram live sessions!

Because of the lockdown, all the organisations that used to organise workshops and classes have now moved to online classes on Instagram! You can find everything you want: dance, music, lifestyle, art, and more!

The best website for all these events is www.allevents.in through which you can attend these classes. Most events on this website are free, although some do require payment. Use this time in lockdown to learn something new!

8. Learn a new language!

We’ve all been planning to learn that one language forever, but we just never got around to actually learning it. Well, now’s the time! There are many apps that teach you new languages, or you could also hire a tutor to teach you online through video calls. This way, when you’re allowed to travel again, you’ll have learnt the language of the place you’re going to and you won’t have to face any language barriers there! And you’ll also be able to boast to your friends about knowing a language they don’t know!

9. Start a new hobby!

Let’s utilise this free time to start a new hobby to keep us busy! Hobbies like scrapbooking, gardening or writing not only keep us busy, but also keep us happy. So, let’s take up a new hobby during this lockdown and say goodbye to boredom!

10. Home gardening!

Home gardening is an absolutely amazing activity to do during quarantine. Gardening in itself is very therapeutic, and watching your own plants grow makes you feel really good and gives you a sense of accomplishment. And we all know how good it is to have plants in your house. Home gardening can add colour and health to your house at a minimal cost. So why miss this amazing opportunity? Also, this is perfect if you have a kid at home, as this will give them practical knowledge of how plants grow!

11. Bring out your inner artist!

We all have an artist inside us, waiting to be unleashed. The appeal of art is like no other. Art is relaxing, therapeutic, fun, and exciting, all at the same time. So, let’s have fun this quarantine with art! There’s a huge array of different art styles to try out there, you’ll never run out of new things to try! So ,get out your art supplies and get drawing and painting!

12. Start a blog!

Do just what I did and start a blog! I promise, it’ll be lots of fun and super exciting! It’ll help you to improve your writing skills, and you’ll have lots of fun along the way! You can write about anything- cooking, crafting, fitness, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, travel and more! And you can literally never run out of things to write about!

13. Teach online classes!

If you’re an expert at anything and want to give other people your knowledge, you can teach it to people through online classes! You can take classes through Zoom, Google Meet, or even through live sessions on Instagram and YouTube! Tell people about your classes on social media, and as your number of students grows, you can soon earn money from it! You can teach pretty much anything- from academics to dance, music, art, yoga and much more! So, don’t let go of this golden opportunity. Start teaching!

14. Finish all those unfinished projects!

We all have those projects that we’ve been wanting to finish for months, maybe years now, but we just never ‘got time’ to do it. Well, now that we have all the time in the world, we can’t make that excuse anymore. So it’s time to get out all those projects from the depths of our cupboards and finally finish them!

15. Look through old photos!

No time is a bad time to relive old memories. We all have those cringy but adorable baby pictures that we rarely ever look through. And what about those pictures from your school day or simply just pictures from a family outing? Let’s take this time to reflect on the past and have a good laugh at ourselves. So, go get your old photo albums and flick through with your family! (or alone if you’re too embarrassed!) Either way, they’re sure to put a huge smile on your face!

Or the best of them all,

16. Waste your life away!

Because isn’t that what we’re all doing right now anyways?
